First of all, as I mentioned, I'd like you to post on THIS blog post (as a comment) which of the topics for Essay #3 you'd like to write on and why (briefly, it doesn't have to be a terribly academic reason right now). I've uploaded the extra articles for the topics on blackboard, if you want to look over those first. If you don't make this comment, I won't give you credit for the Cion blog post.
For this blog post, I'm going to have you recreate a Fugitive Slave Poster for Nicodemus and Abednegro. Based on the following examples, make a post in the style of the fugitive slave posters, offering a reward for their capture, their suspected location, physical description, what they had on them, etc. This forces you to use some information from Cion while still exercising some creativity.

I have decided that I am going to write my classical argument on "Should hate speech be prohibited on college campuses." I chose this because I think it would be an interesting topic to research and learn more about. Also I believe there would be a lot of useful information out there to use.

ReplyDeleteI have decided that I will write my argument on "Does the tobacco industry employ questionable practices in their anti-smoking campaigns?" I'd like to write about this because a couple of my friends use tobacco, so I think that if I use some of their ideas, I could support my argument better. There are also many examples that I can use to analyze and support my argument.

I want to write about this topic because it seems really interesting. I'm a Cleveland Indians fan and I think it'd be interesting to look into different people opinions on this subject.
ReplyDeleteAfter considering a few essays I decided that I want to write my argument on "Should sports teams that use Native American mascots and images be pressured to change their names or mascots?" I think this will be a very interesting argument because I honestly have never thought about it as being offensives before, and I'm sure a lot of people have the same view as me on this subject. In my hometown, the younger boys play "Tomahawk" football, so I could definitely use that as an example.

I have read over the articles in A&B and blackboard--also, in my health class, we just finished a test about the use of tobacco and watched a clip of the "Think Don't Smoke" campaign. I think it's an interesting topic and I'll have a lot of information to write about.

I chose this topic because I think that how the smoking industry works so hard on advertising to sell their items is fascinating, as we always looked at it in health class. It would be even more interesting to dive into the research for myself, and find out for myself what I believe.
